Redeem atBTC for Bitcoin

Welcome back to the Atlas Protocol Testnet! This guide will walk you through Quest 3: redeeming your atBTC from the NEAR network back to your Bitcoin testnet wallet.

Step 1: Stake tBTC and mint atBTC on NEAR

• Please complete the steps outlined in the Quest #1 Walkthrough Guide. You will need to complete these steps again in order to complete Quest 3. The staking process may take a few hours, so please wait until it’s confirmed before jumping ahead to Step 2 below.

‼️ Important: Do not remove your liquidity on Rhea Finance.

Step 2: Navigate to the Redeem Page

• Go to the Atlas Protocol testnet app -> testnet.atlasprotocol.com/

• Locate and select the "Redeem" tab, usually found in the left-hand navigation panel.

Step 3: Initiate the Redemption

• On the Redeem page, configure the following settings:

  • Select Chain Holding atBTC: Choose NEAR testnet.

  • Amount: Enter the amount of atBTC you wish to redeem. Ensure it is 0.0001 or greater.

  • BTC Receiving Address: Enter your Bitcoin testnet address. CRITICAL: This must be the same Bitcoin testnet wallet address you used in Quest 1 to receive your initial testnet BTC.

  • Once all fields are correctly filled, click the "Review" button.

• A pop-up window will appear summarizing the transaction. Review the details carefully.

• Click the "Redeem" button in the pop-up.

• Your NEAR wallet (e.g., Meteor Wallet) will prompt you for confirmation. Click "Approve" in the wallet pop-up.

Step 4: Await Confirmation in Redemption History

• After approving the transaction in your wallet, the redemption process begins.

• You can monitor the status in the "Redemption History" tab within the Atlas Protocol interface.

• IMPORTANT: The redemption process is not instantaneous and can take a2-4 days to process. This is because the underlying Bitcoin needs to be un-staked from BitHive, which uses a fixed 2-day un-staking cycle. So when you initiate the redemption, you have to wait for the next available 2-day processing window, resulting in a total wait time of up to 4 days max.

• Once your BTC is un-staked and the Bitcoin testnet transaction is processed, you will see a confirmation status update “Successfully Redeemed” in your Redemption History tab. The testnet Bitcoin (tBTC) will be sent to the BTC address you specified.
